Plan your float

Know the river before you go

A little planning makes for a smoother, safer day. Here's the local know-how.

Where to float

The Provo River below Deer Creek Reservoir is the family favorite — clear, steady water. Watch for the railroad-bridge obstacle and plan your exit ahead of time.

Best season & timing

June through September brings the warmest water and best flows. Weekday mornings are calmest; arrive early for the easiest parking.

Float time

Most floats run 2–3 relaxed hours at a gentle pace. Bring sunscreen, water shoes and a snack — and leave valuables in the car.

Bring two vehicles

Floats are point-to-point, so a quick shuttle makes the day easy:

  1. 1 Leave one car at your take-out (exit) point.
  2. 2 Drive everyone and the gear up to the put-in.
  3. 3 Float the river at your own pace.
  4. 4 Hop in the parked car and grab the other vehicle.

Float safe

  • Everyone wears a properly sized life jacket.
  • Skip the river during high or fast water after rain.
  • Stay with your group and know your exit points.
  • Keep covers on the tubes and watch for low branches.
  • Save the drinks for after the float — not during.

Pickup in American Fork

Grab your gear at your scheduled time. The exact address is sent with your reservation. Tubes are bagged and ready — no trailer required.

FAQ

Good to know before you float

What's included in my rental?

Reserve the tubes and gear you need online with a scheduled pickup time. Tubes are deflated, bagged and easy to transport, and a pump is included free with every tube order. Add life jackets, coolers, dry bags and more at checkout.

Do the tubes come inflated?

No — tubes are picked up deflated and packed in carry bags so they fit in any car. A pump is included with every tube order, so you can inflate quickly at the river.

Do I need a trailer?

Not at all. The deflated tubes come in bags and fit in regular cars, SUVs and crossovers. Bring whatever you drive and you're good to go.

Where should I float?

The Provo River below Deer Creek Reservoir is the family-friendly favorite. Watch for the railroad-bridge obstacle and plan your shuttle vehicles so you have a ride back to the start.

Can I float with kids?

Yes — many families enjoy the Provo River. Always use properly sized life jackets and check current river conditions before you head out. We carry youth through adult XXL sizes.

How long can I keep the gear?

Rentals are designed for a full river day. Pick up at your scheduled time, keep the covers on while floating, then deflate and bag the tubes before dropping them back at the pickup location.

How do I return everything?

Keep the covers on during your float. When you're done, deflate the tubes, put them back in their bags, and drop everything off at the same American Fork pickup location.

Is there a deposit?

A refundable security deposit may apply to keep gear in great shape. Any deposit amount and refund details are shown during the online booking process and returned after a quick inspection.
